Now the Work of Christmas Begins

With Epiphany making the end of the Season of Christmas just a few days away (January 6th), I thought the following poem by Rev. Dr. Howard Thurman appropriate (“Now the Work of Christmas Begins”):

When the song of the angels is stilled,
when the star in the sky is gone,
when the kings and princes are home,
when the shepherds are back with their flocks,
the work of Christmas begins:
to find the lost,
to heal the broken,
to feed the hungry,
to release the prisoner,
to rebuild the nations,
to bring peace among the people,
to make music in the heart.

I hope you have had a wonderful Christmas. I hope it has been filled with some relaxation, for there is work to be done. Are you ready to begin the work of Christmas?

Blessed be,
Joel
